To provide lasting comfort, especially for those dealing with sensitivity, itchiness, or flaking, we added soothing botanicals like aloe vera, allantoin, and panthenol.

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) are commonly used surfactants that create foam and help cleanse the skin but they can also be too harsh, especially for sensitive or dry skin. These ingredients are known to strip away natural oils, potentially causing dryness, irritation, and disruption to the skin barrier over time.

Instead, we use milder, sulfate-free alternatives that still cleanse effectively without compromising your skin’s natural balance. These gentle surfactants are biodegradable, safer for sensitive skin, and more environmentally responsible.

Firstly, our priority is to create the best possible product that almost everyone can use. While we produce in smaller batches, there is still a minimum volume requirement, which is why we are not focusing on highly specialized or niche shampoos at this stage. Instead, our goal is to formulate the gentlest shampoo possible, one that provides effective cleansing while making hair washing both pleasant and convenient.

When it came to scent, our approach was different. Rather than aiming to create the "best-smelling" shampoo, our priority was selecting essential oils with proven benefits for the hair and scalp. From these oils, we then experimented extensively with blending, working through nearly a thousand combinations over many months. This process led us to the unique fragrance of Gentle Scalp 2.0.

We are especially delighted to hear that customers enjoy the scent, as it was an incredibly challenging process given the limitations of using only beneficial oils. The result is a blend that not only smells good (in our view) but is also 100% supportive of hair and scalp health. With Gentle Scalp 2.0, every ingredient serves a meaningful purpose.

Yes. The formula is built around low-irritation, sulfate-free surfactants (Disodium Laureth Sulfocuccinate, Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate & Sodium Methyl Oleoyl Taurate) which clean effectively without disrupting the scalp's lipid barrier.

We also included humectants & barrier-support ingredients (glycerin, pentylene glycol, allantoin & panthenol) to minimise post-wash tightness & dryness ~ two (2) of the most common triggers for sensitivity.

Only a very low, controlled concentration of the essential oil blend is used so they won't overwhelm reactive scalps.

Overall, the cleansing system, hydration support & soothing actives make it well tolerated for most sensitive scalps, including those prone to redness, itching, or mild flaking.

For Pregnant Women

Yes, Gentle Scalp 2.0 Shampoo is a rinse-off formula made with mild, low-irritation surfactants and essential oils used at cosmetic-safe levels. There are no ingredients in the formula that are flagged as unsafe for use during pregnancy in rinse-off haircare products.

That said, pregnancy can make the skin & scalp more reactive than usual. For pregnant women, we do recommend a quick patch test before use & discontinuing use of the product if any sensitivity occurs.

For Children

The mild formula and safe levels of essential oils make it generally suitable for children.

However for younger children (<3Y), they tend to have more sensitive skin. So for children with skin sensitivities and children below 3 years of age, we recommend a quick patch test before use.

No, this is not formulated with babies in mind. Babies (<1Y) have very permeable, highly reactive skin; so we do not recommend products with any essential oils or fragrances in them, even at low cosmetic levels.

Gentle Scalp 2.0 does not contain synthetic fragrance. Its scent comes entirely from a carefully balanced blend of essential oils. These oils support a healthier scalp environment, helping reduce common scalp issues and creating better conditions for stronger hair.
