Nourish: Serum, Moisturiser, Oil

serums
Serums are like an express courier for your skin. Lightweight and fast-absorbing, they’re designed to deliver a high concentration of active ingredients (e.g. vitamin C, niacinamide, peptides, or hyaluronic acid) deep into the skin, where they can create real change. They are used after cleansing and toning but before moisturizers or oils.
Unlike moisturizers and face oils, which mostly work on the surface to hydrate and protect, serums target specific skin concerns at a cellular level—whether it’s brightening dullness, reducing fine lines, or calming inflammation.

FACE OILS
Face oils are like a nourishing seal for your skin. Rich in essential fatty acids and antioxidants, they help strengthen your skin barrier, lock in moisture, and deliver deep nourishment. While they may feel richer than serums, a well-formulated face oil absorbs beautifully and leaves the skin soft, supple, and glowing.
Face oils are typically used after serums and moisturisers to seal in hydration and actives, preventing moisture loss throughout the day or night. Often underrated, we believe face oils should be used all the time, it is really important as it helps prevent moisture escaping, keeping your skin soft, smooth, and protected.

Moisturisers
Moisturisers are your skin’s daily drink of water. They hydrate and protect by drawing in moisture and locking it in, helping to keep your skin soft, supple, and balanced. Most moisturisers combine humectants, emollients, and occlusives to maintain healthy skin and prevent water loss.
Typically used after serums (and sometimes before face oils), moisturisers help support and strengthen the skin barrier. But in humid climates like Malaysia, your skin may not need as much, or you might even skip it during the day. It really depends on what your skin is telling you. Some of our customers prefer to go straight to SQUALANE+ face oil, which also offers lightweight moisturising benefits while sealing in hydration.
THE RIGHT WAY
SKIN CARE STEPS

CLEANSE
Cleansing your face is an indispensable step in any skincare routine. It removes dirt, oil, sunscreen, and other impurities that accumulate throughout the day. Proper cleansing promotes skin renewal and ensures your skin is ready to absorb the nutrients from your next steps.

PREP
Toning is an important yet often overlooked step. A good toner helps restore your skin’s ideal pH (around 4.5–5.5), lightly hydrates, and soothes. It also leaves your skin slightly damp—perfectly prepped to absorb serums, moisturizers, and face oils more effectively.

TREAT & NOURISH
This is where your skincare becomes more personalized. Whether it’s a serum, moisturizer, eye cream, or face oil—this step is all about feeding your skin what it needs. Hydration, brightening, firming, or calming—choose what suits your skin goals, and layer thoughtfully.

PROTECT (DAYTIME)
In the morning, sun protection is essential. A broad-spectrum sunscreen shields your skin from harmful UV rays, pollution, and premature aging. No skincare routine is complete without this final step—your skin’s daily defense layer.

Frequently Asked Questions
We get asked this a lot! The simple answer is: we’re still a small brand with just one store, and creating a moisturiser comes with minimum production volumes that are quite high. As much as we’d love to offer one, we need to be sure we can sell enough to avoid waste, which is important to us.
Also, being in Malaysia’s humid climate, many of our customers find that SQUALANE+ already gives them enough lightweight hydration, especially during the day. That said, we’re not against moisturisers - in fact, we know they play an important role in skin care. We’re just waiting for the right time to create one thoughtfully and sustainably.
We’d love to and we definitely want to help more people! But the reality is, as a small brand with just one store, we’re not quite at the scale yet to launch more specialised products. Each new formulation requires a significant minimum production volume, and it’s a big commitment for us to take on without knowing if we can sell enough to avoid waste.
To grow and offer more, we really do need your continued support. We can only risk more when the business is more consistent and more stable. We’re building slowly , we are aiming to do things responsibly and sustainably.
Not always. What your skin needs depends on your skin type, the climate you live in, and even your age.
- In your 20s, your skin usually produces more natural oils and retains moisture well. Many people in this age group find that a simple routine with just a hydrating serum AND/OR just a lightweight face oil (like our SQUALANE+) is enough—especially in humid climates like Malaysia.
- In your 30s and beyond, your skin’s natural hydration and collagen levels begin to decline. You might benefit from layering a moisturiser between your serum and face oil to give your skin more support, particularly at night or if you spend time in air-conditioning or dry environments.
- Serums provide targeted treatment (e.g. brightening, firming, calming),
- Moisturisers hydrate and support your skin barrier,
- Face oils seal in all the goodness and nourish the skin.
You don’t always need all three—but knowing how and when to use them gives you the flexibility to adapt your routine as your skin changes.
Yes, in many cases you can, especially if you’re using a lightweight, skin-compatible oil like our SQUALANE+. Face oils help lock in moisture, nourish the skin barrier, and prevent water loss, which are some of the key functions of a moisturiser.
That said, face oils don’t typically contain humectants (ingredients that draw water into the skin, like glycerin or hyaluronic acid). So if your skin is feeling dehydrated or tight, you may still benefit from using a hydrating serum or moisturiser first, then applying the oil to seal everything in.
In humid climates like Malaysia, many of our customers find that SQUALANE+ alone is enough, especially during the day. It really comes down to your skin’s needs and how it feels.
Our serums and face oils are formulated with gentle, plant-based ingredients and are free from common irritants - making them generally suitable for most skin types, including sensitive skin. For example, our SQUALANE+ face oil is non-comedogenic, lightweight, and well-loved by customers with easily irritated skin.
However, sensitive skin can react unpredictably, even to natural ingredients. That’s why we strongly recommend doing a patch test before applying any new product to your face. 1. Perform a quick patch test -Apply a small amount to your skin, wait for 30-60 seconds and observe. If there’s stinging or discomfort, rinse off right away. 2. If it feels okay, there is a good chance the product is safe for you [BUT it is not 100%, a full patch test needs a 24hr period, that can only be done after you purchased the product]
If after using the product you experience any reaction (redness, itching, burning, or breakouts) stop using it immediately. Gently rinse the area with water and avoid applying other active products on top. Everyone’s skin is different, and even natural ingredients can sometimes trigger sensitivity. If irritation persists, consult a healthcare professional or dermatologist.
WHY choose re{me}dy?
Many brands talk about green initiatives, but we invite you to see it for yourself. We don't claim to be Green, we just seek to be Responsible. Visit our store in Kampung Attap, KL, where we dry used coffee grounds from Piu Piu Piu, sort recyclables, and sanitize donated bottles and jars for reuse. We’re not here to talk trends—we’re here to take responsibility.
We only create products we’re proud to use ourselves—safe, effective, and well formulated. If it’s not something we’d confidently put on our own skin, we simply won’t sell it.
Good products need good ingredients. If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. We’re not the most affordable brand—but we’re certainly more accessible than top-tier skincare labels, and our products deliver comparable quality, without the excessive markup.
Many international brands are developed with cooler, drier climates in mind—which often makes their products feel too heavy, greasy, or ineffective here. Ours are lightweight, breathable, and designed to perform where we actually live—right here in Malaysia.
